SideQuest: Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply specifically to the SideQuest: The Last Stand Android application ("SideQuest", "the app"), published by LunarWerx LLC, a Missouri limited liability company ("LunarWerx", "we", "us", "our"). They supplement the general LunarWerx Terms of Service; where they differ for the SideQuest app, the Terms on this page govern. Last updated: October 7, 2026.

The short version (plain English): SideQuest is a free digital-wellbeing tool that helps you interrupt your own habit of opening time-sink apps. You choose what to guard. It's a friction tool, not a guarantee, and not a substitute for professional help. We provide it "as is." Donations are voluntary, give you nothing extra, and aren't refundable. Be reasonable, don't misuse it, and Missouri law governs. The full terms below just say this carefully.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and LunarWerx LLC, a Missouri limited liability company governing your use of the SideQuest mobile application. By downloading, installing, or using SideQuest, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Eligibility

SideQuest is intended for users 18 years of age or older. By using the app you confirm you are at least 18. SideQuest is not directed to children and we do not knowingly make it available to them.

3. Your license to use SideQuest

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use SideQuest on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer (except to the extent that law expressly permits), redistribute, sell, or sublicense the app, except as allowed by applicable law or the Google Play Terms.

4. What SideQuest is, and is not

SideQuest is a self-directed digital-wellbeing aid. It lets you choose apps to "guard," shows a brief puzzle and a deliberate choice when you open one, and lets you start a short, self-imposed lock.

You understand and agree that:

It is a friction tool, not a barrier. SideQuest can be paused, disabled, or removed by you or by your device's operating system at any time. It cannot and does not guarantee any particular outcome, behavior change, or reduction in screen time.
It is not medical or mental-health treatment. SideQuest is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. It is not a treatment for any condition, including compulsive technology use or addiction. If you are struggling, please consult a qualified professional. Do not rely on SideQuest for any safety-critical purpose.
You stay in control of your device. SideQuest does not lock your whole phone, and never blocks the system phone dialer, emergency calling, or other essential device functions.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use SideQuest to violate any law, to interfere with or disrupt the app or any device, or to attempt to access parts of the app you are not authorized to access. You are responsible for which apps you choose to guard and for your own use of the app.

6. Donations

SideQuest is free. If you choose to support development, donations are made through external third-party payment links (Stripe) opened in your browser, not inside the app. Donations are entirely voluntary, are processed by Stripe under Stripe's own terms and privacy policy, and:

Confer no additional features, content, or in-app benefit of any kind. Every feature of SideQuest is available to all users whether or not they donate.
Are non-refundable except where required by law.

Because donations unlock nothing in the app, they are gifts in support of the project, not purchases of goods or services.

7. Intellectual property

SideQuest, including its name, design, code, puzzles, and assets, is owned by LunarWerx LLC and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a license to use the app, not any ownership of it. Third-party components included in the app remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their licenses.

8. Disclaimers

SideQuest is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or effective for any particular goal. Your device's behavior, OS updates, and other apps may affect how SideQuest works, and that is outside our control.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LunarWerx LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, time, profits, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) SideQuest, even if advised of the possibility. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you voluntarily donated to LunarWerx in the 12 months before the claim, or USD $25.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LunarWerx LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your misuse of the app or your violation of these Terms or any law.

11. Changes to the app and to these Terms

We may update, change, or discontinue SideQuest or any feature at any time. We may also update these Terms; when we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected here, and your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using SideQuest and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or end your license if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

13. Google Play

Your download and use of SideQuest are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and Google's policies. Where those apply to your acquisition of the app, they control over any conflicting provision here regarding distribution.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Missouri will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
